VET Logistics for Agribusiness

Overall Objectives and Outcomes

This module is designed to provide participants with the skills needed to plan the logistics for the teaching of Agribusiness. The participants will also be given the necessary training to be able to design the necessary assignments in accordance with the curriculum criteria. The module will also give them the opportunity to acquire a thorough understanding of Agribusiness and the vocabulary needed to be able to design assignments in line with the curriculum’s objectives and criteria. 

By the end of the module course participants will be able to formulate a quality assurance plan that will enable the teachers of Agribusiness to provide a safe environment for teaching and learning both in a classroom setting and also outside in the field. In this module participants are expected to produce schemes of work based on particular units. They will also be expected to be able to verify their colleagues’ assignments. The course participants will be encouraged to apply the knowledge acquired to prepare assignments and also to write health and safety reports and make risk assessments based on different situations one may encounter when teaching this subject.

By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:

Competences

a. Schedule the planning of the agribusiness units;
b. Design assignments aligned to the assessment objectives and criteria of the curriculum;
c. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the vocabulary of agribusiness;
d. Formulate a quality assurance plan needed in a vocational subject.

Knowledge 

a. Outline what is needed to plan agribusiness units;
b. Understand the principles in designing quality assignment tasks;
c. Be acquainted with the correct terms and definitions in the VET Agribusiness policy document;
d. Identify the principles / concepts of a valid quality assurance procedure;
e. Appreciate the importance of health and safety measures in Agribusiness. 

Skills

a. Produce a scheme of work according to a specific unit;
b. Verify a colleague assignment;
c. Prepare an assignment according to the knowledge, comprehension and application criteria;
d. Write a report with the hazards encountered in a specific animal farm;
e. Suggest changes to criteria for a specific Agribusiness unit;
f. Decide if an assignment brief if fit for purpose;
g. Schedule procedures for a quality assurance of an assignment brief;
h. Examine a health and safety report for risk assessments;
i. Review the Agribusiness Unit Specifications and criteria based on researched literature;
j. Discuss the importance of having a VET Agribusiness policy document as guideline;
k. Explain how to write an assignment brief;
l. Argue about the importance of health and safety prevention in Agribusiness;
m. Verify a colleague school –based assessment and do an internal verification;
n. Use sensible precautions to reduce risks highlighting health and safety aspects that need addressing;
o. Use word processer software to produce documents suitable for academic presentation;
p. Use video clips to learn about health and safety

Assessment Methods
