Facial and Eye Care Treatments
This unit covers the basis knowledge of facial treatments including underpinning knowledge of the structure and functions of the skin, contra indications and skin diseases and disorders, enabling learners to recognize different skin type and skin conditions that can be treated by a beauty specialist. It is important that learners know different skin care products and their ingredients to be able to select the appropriate products for specific skin conditions. This unit also includes eyelash and eyebrow tinting and eyebrow shaping according to suitability and client’s preferences.
By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:
a) Perform a thorough consultation: analysing the skin while noting any contra indications that could restrict treatment;
b) Recommend treatment according to client’s specific needs;
c) Demonstrate the ability to provide a professional facial and eye treatment following appropriate standard procedures;
d) Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of skin care products;
e) Provide adequate aftercare and homecare advice;
f) Create engaging lessons and resources on facial and eye care treatments.
a) Describe the basic skin structure;
b) Identify and recognise different skin types enabling learner to perform a selection of treatments depending on the skin type;
c) Distinguish the different skin care products to be used professionally or at home;
d) Distinguish skin diseases and disorders that might be contra indicated to the treatments;
e) Explain procedure of good hygiene standards in beauty salons;
f) Outline appropriate teaching approaches for the design and delivery of lessons on facial and eye care treatments.

e) Evaluate pedagogical approaches in the creation of lessons and resources related to facial and eye care treatments;
