Competences

a) Develop a comprehensive understanding of researched effects and benefits of electrotherapy on the well-being of the body;
b) Identify common skin/body complaints and provide treatment plan to meet client’s concerns determined through a consultation and skin/body analysis;
c) Prepare for and administer electrical treatments according to manufacturer’s guideline and Health and Safety regulations;
d) Analyse and record treatment results and evaluate effects of treatment and own performance;
e) Create engaging lessons related to body and facial electrical treatments. 

Knowledge 

a) Demonstrate knowledge of Facial and Body electrical treatments available within the industry, including effects and benefits of each machine;
b) Identify specific skin and body complaint and formulate an effective treatment plan; 
c) Describe and identify contra-indications and special care requirements for each individual machine;
d) Conduct a thorough consultation with the client to obtain personal and medical details and their specific objectives;
e) Explain limitations of the electrotherapy treatments;
f) Develop knowledge with setting up and operating electrical machines according to manufacturer’s instruction and Health and Safety regulations;
g) Develop operational knowledge all the devices, including identification of sound and sensation and any other contra-actions caused whilst device is being operated;
h) Describe how to combine electrotherapy with manual techniques to enhance the treatment;
i) Explain how to use machines effectively and safely to achieve maximum results;
j) Explain home care and aftercare procedures in order to maximize treatment potential;
k) Keep accurate client records and detailed accounts of treatments performed;
l) Identify appropriate approaches in the design and delivery of lessons on facial and body electrical treatments. 

Skills

a) Show the effects and benefits of each piece of electrical apparatus;
b) Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to decide which electrotherapy treatment should be used for the specific skin/body condition;
c) Plan treatment processes according to client’s requirements and preferences;
d) Demonstrate adequate safety procedures for set-up and operation of equipment;
e) Manually prepare skin/body effectively to enhance performance of electrical treatment;
f) Perform treatment correctly in relation to sequence, duration and efficiency;
g) Adapt treatment if/when necessary;
h) Record effects of treatment and obtain client feedback;
i) Demonstrate evaluation of treatment and self-evaluation for growth and development purposes;
j) Evaluate teaching approaches in the creation of successful lessons related to facial and body electrical treatments;
k) Give feedback to support on their performance in relation to facial and body electrical treatments.
