Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for the module are to be in possession of one of the following: 

a. A Bachelor’s degree in Education (MQF Level 6 with a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent) together with relevant experience in an educational setting;  

OR 

b. A Bachelor’s degree (MQF Level 6 with a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent) and PGCE (or equivalent) together with relevant experience in an educational setting; 

OR 

c. A Bachelor’s degree in Inclusive Education (MQF Level 6 with a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent) together with 3 years’ relevant experience in an educational setting; 

OR 

d. A Master’s Degree (MQF Level 7 with a minimum of 90 ECTS, or equivalent) and a Permanent Teacher’s Warrant together with relevant experience in an educational setting

Overall Objectives

Creative thinking is one of the European Union’s eight key competences for lifelong learning. The module is designed to foster this competence by applying different thinking skills methods and tools.

 

By the end of this module, the learner will be able to:

  • Apply various thinking skills tools and methods to develop solutions for different situations and different subjects;
  • Design and implement project that requires a demonstration of a creative mindset within an educational setting;
  • Cultivate school and classroom cultures that promote a sense of creativity and inquiry;
  • Collaborate in a team, through sharing of ideas, critical thinking and creativity.
  • Analyse key literature and concepts related to developing a sense of creative and lateral thinking skills in education;
  • Identify the different thinking skills methods one can use in class;
  • Describe the motivational process and why intrinsic motivation is required to engage in activities;
  • Critically assess institutional and systemic barriers that hinder creative thinking in education.
  • Apply different thinking skills methods and tools to enhance creativity in teaching and learning;
  • Reflect on their own “thinking outside the box” attitude as professionals;
  • Use different methods and tools required to develop a creative mindset;
  • Explore problems and come up with practical solutions using different thinking methods.

This module will be assessed through: Forum Discussions; Presentation.
