Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for the module are to be in possession of one of the following: 

a. A Bachelor’s degree in Education (MQF Level 6 with a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent) together with relevant experience in an educational setting;  

OR 

b. A Bachelor’s degree (MQF Level 6 with a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent) and PGCE (or equivalent) together with relevant experience in an educational setting; 

OR 

c. A Bachelor’s degree in Inclusive Education (MQF Level 6 with a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent) together with 3 years’ relevant experience in an educational setting; 

OR 

d. A Master’s Degree (MQF Level 7 with a minimum of 90 ECTS, or equivalent) and a Permanent Teacher’s Warrant together with relevant experience in an educational setting

Overall Objectives and Outcomes

A ‘sense of initiative and entrepreneurship’ is one of the European Union’s eight key competences for lifelong learning. This module has been designed to foster this competence by developing the learners’ abilities to recognise and make the most of opportunities, transform solutions into action, and develop strategies to reach their objectives.

By the end of this module, the learner will be able to:

  • Manage challenges, problems and projects related to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset within the education context;
  • Design and implement creative and innovate solutions tailored to the professional educational environment;
  • Apply interpersonal, intrapersonal, cognitive and personal skills and competences to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Lead initiatives that inspire change, build capacity, and promote ethical and sustainable progress within educational settings.
  • Analyse key literature and concepts related to developing a sense of initiative and entrepreneurship;
  • Contextually describe and evaluate the strategies that transform ideas into action within an educational framework;
  • Examine school and classroom cultures that promote or inhibit a sense of initiative and entrepreneurship;
  • Explore ethical and sustainable dimensions of entrepreneurship within educational frameworks and practices.
  • Strategically apply entrepreneurship to a school setting to foster innovation and growth;
  • Design and implement projects that require a demonstration of initiative and entrepreneurship thinking;
  • Address barriers to developing an entrepreneurial mindset in a educational environments;
  • Analyse complex problems and plan practical, scalable solutions that align with the educational and organisational goals.

This module will be assessed through: Forum Discussion, Presentation.
