Personality and its Assessments
Through this module, course participants with be trained on testing cognitive ability through Weschler Tests and exposed on how the assessment of cognitive ability combined with the assessment of personality aspects will give a better picture of the individual. Main theories of personality that will be covered include: psychoanalytic theory, humanistic theory, trait theory, social-cognitive theory, biological theory, and behaviourist theory. Focus will also be given to personality issues in adolescence. Within this module, course participants will also explore personality assessment. Within this component, the measurement of personality, how it can be measured through Objective and Projective Instruments will be covered. Course participants will then be trained on the use of the Millon Pre-Adolescent Clinical Inventory (MPACI) and the Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory.
By the end of this module, the learner will be able to:
a. Administer and interpret WIPPSI, WISC tests;
b. Ensure the ability of applying personality theory in practice;
c. Administer and Interpret the MPACI and MACI;
d. Conduct assessments for autism spectrum disorder, applying standardized tools and observation techniques;
e. Identify and interpret key developmental and behavioral indicators;
f. Share assessment findings and contribute to the development of comprehensive intervention plans;
g. Apply psychoanalytical concepts in the interpretation of personality assessment results;
h. Administer, score and interpret results from personality assessments.
a. Demonstrate knowledge of the key principles underlying psychoanalytic, humanistic, trait, social-cognitive, biological and behavioral theories of personality;
b. Outline the theory and practice of Weschler Cognitive tests;
c. Identify and describe the main personality theories;
d. Describe Projective and Objective personality assessments;
e. Describe the theory and use of the MPACI and MACI;
f. List and explain the different types of autism assessment tests;
g. Compare and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different theoretical approaches to understanding personality;
h. Understand the ethical considerations involved in personality assessment, such as confidentiality and consent.
a. Administer the WPPSI and WISC effectively; maintaining rapport, taking into consideration situational and personality variables (when and where applicable);
b. Construct an informed perspective on the formation of personality and its application to practice;
c. Apply the MPACI and the MACI therapeutic/intervention purposes;
d. Apply the SRS, CARS, GARS and Vineland tests;
e. Develop strategies to support children and adoloscents in managing these challenges;
f. Integrate concepts from multiple theoratical perspectives to provide a comprehensive assessment of personality.
This module will be assessed through: Practical Assignment and Reflective Task.
