This session will showcase various activities and strategies that one can explore to make Maths a more meaningful experience at home. Such activities will embed Mathematics within everyday experiences at home, because Maths is all around us!
A Hands-On Approach to Maths

This session will explore the characteristics of a hands-on approach to Maths and how physical manipulatives can help students to understand and relate to the subject. The session will also explore the CPA approach, moving from the concrete to the pictorial to the abstract.
Mental Maths in the Early Years

This session will explain how Mental Maths keeps our brains quick and sharp. It will also explore various strategies and activities which incorporate the practice of doing mental Maths in the Early Years and how this improves children’s number sense as well as the ability to understand the relationships between quantities.
Maths Using Recyclable Material
Educators & Parents/ Guardians
This session will explore different Maths activities which can be done using recycled material. Through such activities, one can explore sustainability-related topics such as consumption and waste separation.
Hands-On Minds-On Maths
Educators & Parents/ Guardians
This session will explore how the use of hands-on Maths has to be complemented by the use of a minds-on approach – manipulatives on their own will not do the trick, there must be a thought process in place. This approach helps children engage more deeply with the information or skills at hand, using active learning.
