Leading the Professional Team
Teachers are used to working in an environment where the Head/Principal is responsible to take all decisions. Being a teacher leader requires a paradigm shift in the thinking of how schools operate. This module will prepare teachers for this professional experience. It will empower teachers to collaborate professionally by working together, sharing knowledge and experiences with other professional team members to improve learning and students’ wellbeing.
By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:
a. Manage group dynamics through collaboration;
b. Engage in formal roles of coaching and mentoring;
c. Develop the team for high performance;
d. Manage change, guiding others through it and addressing
a. Systematically understands the key aspects of leadership styles;
b. Demonstrate the ability to plan and prepare for meetings with the professional team.
a. Develop the ability to delegate tasks to the other members of the professional team;
b. Resolve conflict among members of the professional team;
c. Build your team in an atmosphere of trust;
d. Sustain team culture and a healthy climate;
e. Critically evaluate with the other team members in the design, implementation, scoring and interpretation of data to improve learning;
f. Evaluate and comment upon educational research;
g. Foster the professional team’s development in interpersonal effectiveness to support each other;
h. Encourage conversation and discussion to explore diverse opinions and reach shared decisions;
i. Develop the professional team’s capacity to communicate effectively within the group and with other stakeholders;
j. Develop learning opportunities for himself and the professional team;
k. Demonstrate self-professional growth by engaging in reflective practice;
l. Interact through digital technologies for communication and collaboration processes.
This module will be assessed through: Case Studies and Reflection.
