Programme Description

This programme provides course participants with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and competences in vocational content, pedagogy and assessment. It aims to provide those within or wishing to join the education sector with the necessary tools and competences to teach effectively in the secondary and vocational sector whilst fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all learners. Within this programme, learners shall acquire an understanding of the hospitality sector in relation to travel and tourism, hotel and restaurant operations and the culinary arts.

 

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to be in possession of:

  1. Three (3) Ordinary Levels at MQF Level 3 (minimum Grade C or 5)  in Maltese, English Language and Mathematics awarded by MATSEC or an equivalent examination body recognised by the Institute for Education.

AND

A minimum of one of the following:

  1. An awarded MATSEC Certificate (MQF 4) with a Grade C or better in Home Economics at Advanced Level; 
  2. An MQF Level 4 vocational qualification (MQF 4 with a minimum of 120 ECTS) in Hospitality or a cognate area deemed relevant by the Institute for Education; 
  3. Three subjects at Advanced Level (MQF 4) with a grade C or better in Home Economics and another subject, and at least a grade D in a third subject.
  4. Two subjects at Advanced Level (MQF 4) at grade C or better including Home Economics and three intermediate subjects with a minimum grade D.

Applications for the Bachelor of Education (Hons) Hospitality programme open mid-May of each year with programmes commencing the following September. When open, interested applicants may apply through the Institute for Education’s online portal
