Josephine Ebejer Grech is a Biology teacher at a post secondary school in Malta and a Doctorate in Business Administration candidate at IDEA College. She holds degrees in Education and Educational Leadership, including an MBA focused on Total Quality Management in post secondary schools. Her research explores student wellbeing, resilience, and counselling structures in Maltese schools. She is passionate about fostering holistic wellbeing and academic resilience among post secondary students.
This study examines the emotional responses and coping strategies of Maltese post secondary students after failing the Advanced Level Biology MATSEC examination. Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, data from interviews, focus groups, and observations revealed emotions ranging from anxiety to self reflection. Students valued support from teachers, peers, and family, especially one to one help. Guided by Attribution Theory, the study recommends enhancing teacher psychological awareness and individual student support.
