The course examines the following topics:
-Learning from the perspective of educational psychology and learning research;
-Deepening studies on memory and expertise as well as the role of motivation and emotion in learning;
-The comprehensive nature and significance of learning and developing educational innovations and change in the society;
-The development and adaptability of the human mind as well as its dependence on social and cultural factors;
-The dynamics of interaction and by reflecting both scientifically and pedagogically and ethically on one’s own actions;
-The one’s own actions and development as a significant part of pedagogical interaction;
-Learning as knowledge creation as well as the building of motivation through the help of engaging and investigative work methods;
-Designing education and learning environments based on educational psychology theories and concepts.
Students who have completed the course will:
-Have advanced knowledge of phenomena and processes related to learning
-Have deep understanding of educational psychology as an important part of educational sciences
-Understand the pragmatic nature of educational psychology and the role of interventions in developing school
-Have deep knowledge of the memory, learning, and expertise from the cognitive and sociocultural perspectives
-Be able to act target-orientedly, ethicallyand constructively in interactive situations
-Be able to apply technology in collaborative knowledge creation and understand how they either promote or challenge learning processes
-Be able to reflect on and develop their own activities based on the knowledge of psychology of learning and development
