Course Description

In this unit, learners will learn how to apply day, evening and make-up for special occasions according to face shape, skin tone and skin type as well as according to client’s likes and preferences using the appropriate techniques and good hygiene standards. Learners will learn to identify the
different types of make-up and will be able to select the appropriate colours, texture and consistency of make-up appropriate for client’s skin type.

Overall Objectives and Outcomes


By the end of this module, the learner will be able to:

Competences

a) Follow adequate hygiene methods according to the standard procedure;
b) Consult with client while giving appropriate suggestions for make-up application while respecting client’s likes and preferences;
c) Demonstrate the ability to apply professional make-up to suit client according to face shape and skin tone, following appropriate standard procedures;
d) Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of various make-up products and tools;
e) Provide adequate homecare advice;
f) Create engaging lessons and resources on make-up types and application techniques.

Knowledge 

a) Explain various make-up application technique;
b) Describe different skin types and face shape;
c) Distinguish various make-products and tools;
d) Explain the contra indications to make-up;
e) Explain appropriate hygiene standards with regard to make-up and tools;
f) Identify appropriate teaching approaches for the design and delivery of lessons related to make-up. 

Skills

a) Plan treatment process according to client’s needs and preferences;
b) Apply appropriate make up to suit clients face shape and skin tone/type;
c) Give home care advice;
d) Evaluate teaching approaches in the creation of lessons and resources related to make up types and application techniques;
e) Support students through feedback on their performance.
