Overall Objectives and Outcomes

The module invites course participants to think and act within different levels of influence and practice: as a classroom practitioner; as an educator in a school;  In their personal lives within their family/ circle of friends; within their residential community; on a national level; and as a global citizen.

The ultimate aim of the module is to energise course participants to bring about long-term changes that address the sustainable goals. Firstly, this will be achieved by introducing The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN Sustainable Development Summit, 2015). The module will provide theoretical knowledge on each goal, including its practical implications within a classroom setting and beyond.

Secondly, the module will delve into the interconnections between the 17 sustainable goals. The ramifications of the interdependence between the goals will be explored on a national and on a global scale.

Thirdly, the module will entice course participants to rethink and re-evaluate their role as classroom practitioners trying to raise awareness of sustainable goals, and implementing practical measures to achieve these goals. Innovative ways on how these goals can be used to channel classroom practice will be examined and promoted.
